MIRUS SENIOR WINS ART INSTITUTE ESSAY CONTEST

Logan Lehman, a senior at Mirus Secondary School in Hesperia, won the Art Institute of California’s Essay Contest for high school seniors. Lehman took home the Art Institute’s first place prize—a $5,000 college scholarship.

Lehman, 18, wrote a timely essay outlining what changes he would make if he were president to boost our country’s economic situation. His idea to launch a substantial marketing and advertising campaign for the country’s new energy resources won over the Art Institute’s judges.

Lehman has been a student at Mirus Secondary School for the past year. He sought out this local charter school option in order to have a more personalized education experience. “I love being responsible for my own work. I feel that at Mirus, I can take control of my education and pursue my graphic design career interests,” Lehman said. “Mirus is very learning-oriented. Since going here, I’ve been able to get my work done and develop my professional portfolio on the side.” Lehman plans on attending the Art Institute of the Inland Empire following his graduation in order to pursue a career in graphic designing for businesses.

Mirus Secondary School is a tuition-free, public school option for students in grades 7-12 who want something different than the traditional school model. It provides students the opportunity to have flexible scheduling that permits them to cultivate their interests—all while receiving a rigorous, high quality education.

“We are proud of Logan’s exceptional accomplishment and are pleased to provide an option for students who pursue a variety of unique career ambitions,” said Mary Searcy Bixby, Mirus Founder, President, & CEO.
